A SELECTION ON KPIs
Key Performance Indicators
We talk about them a lot in business Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
Time invested in KPIs could be the best hours you spend on your business.
I have found that the KPI – Key performance indicator is very important to a successful business. If you want to grow your business it is important to set these benchmarks. As they say ‘if you don’t know where you are going any road will get you there.”
It is worth taking the time to brainstorm and develop the right KPI to create your business success. I have often considered a KPI as a critical number. The number that you focus on to ensure that you align the team to what you are really trying to achieve. The critical number will drive behaviours and when achieved be the definition of business success.
Business performance, scorecards and dashboards are important reminders to everyone around that the KPI is the game at hand. In this series of posts I share what I have learned about using ‘the number’ to align every one in the team.

‘I made it’ – another year of business success…
Small Business Projects for 2017 I titled this blog '‘I made it’ – another year of small business success…' - but perhaps it should have been ''phew I survived' - without any major incidents in 2016'. As 2016 drew to a close I felt both relief, and a sense of...

My Other Big Gig… Parenting Teenagers
Witnessing young people emerge into adulthood is a great privilege. Watching them discover what is important to them, their values – what they believe in, their aspirations – is a wonderful experience. My role as a parent has changed from ‘boundary rider’ to coach and...

Four steps to make the most of the planets aligning.
If you were up at 5:30am last Thursday you might have noticed something in the sky that isn’t normally there: for the first time in ten years, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are all visible and form a neat line from the horizon to the moon. If you missed it,...
The entrepreneurial journey is a long and personal one
I saw the movie 'The Intern’ with Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro in the cinema when it came out late in 2015. It brought tears to my eyes… Then my mother, returning on a Qantas flight, watched the same movie a few weeks ago and she called me to ask (tongue in cheek)...
We seek an #equalfuture and a #balancedvoice
When ANZ invited me to hear The Hon. Julia Gillard, tennis great Martina Navratilova and former Chief of Army, General David Morrison speak I was all ears. Putting such a panel together means that they had something ‘big’ to share in the ANZ Women’s Report. Primarily...
