Entrepreneurship

So you think you want to be on an entrepreneurship journey? Or perhaps you are just curious about other people who are entprenreneurs.

Entrepreneurship is made to look glamorous and yet on the whole it is not. Most people if you were to ask them, as business owners they are likely you will be living on a very tight budget, rather than driving around in a Tesla.

As they say the road to Entrepreneurship is littered with the carcasses of the ‘hopeful’. It is a lot of hard work however it can be extremely rewarding both financially and emotionally.  However, neither of those things is guaranteed. You get to run your own business, and make your own rules as well as build something special from the ground up. But for every Silicon Valley success story there are thousands of people that will never be a true ‘entrepreneur’.

I have found that the best way is to learn from others. I have run many successful entrepreneurial businesses. And I have made plenty of mistakes. In these blog posts I share the ups and the downs. You may want to subscribe to my Monday Xpresso Newsletter so that you can get a weekly dose of motivation.

So let’s get started on your entrepreneurial journey. Be curious, and have fun – reading and learning about being an entrepreneur.

Five ways to play a bigger game.

Five ways to play a bigger game.

Back in September 2012, I found myself at the Entrepreneurs Organization Conference in Istanbul. The theme for the event was transform, transcend, together. Right now, I am away (this time in Australia) and still thinking about the same things...how to play a bigger...

I am an entrepreneur

I am an entrepreneur

Seven generational paradigms

Seven generational paradigms

I’m not a big fan of categorizing people by their age and putting a label on them. Years ago I wrote a blog about ‘Generation Why’ – claiming that I was very much a part of the “generation that questions everything.” ‘A picture saves a thousand words’... I begin to...

21 Day Challenge… is anybody listening?

21 Day Challenge… is anybody listening?

As I sat in the back of a taxi rushing from one appointment to another this week… quick to check my phone for messages as soon as I jumped in the cab, the taxi driver asked “And how’s your day going?” I stopped and chatted and found out what he thought of the troubles...

Six Traits of Champion Entrepreneurs

Six Traits of Champion Entrepreneurs

Jack Cowin started his presentation at the EY Entrepreneurs workshop with a quote “An entrepreneur needs to be a cross between a microbiologist and an astronomer.” He believes that true entrepreneurs are special in that they can be both detailed and visionary. He was...

A woman should have:

A woman should have:

The fact that 50% of Australian women over the age of 45 have less that $8000 in superannuation is completely alarming to me. I continue to debate, discuss and consider the implications of free childcare in Australia and other ideas around women's financial security....

Networking is Dancing in the conversation

Networking is Dancing in the conversation

I don’t really like the word ‘networking’ – it implies something forced or not easy (I think the term should remain the domain of IT folks). I was recently at the conference in Amsterdam and one of my friends asked me if I was going to ‘network’ there – which made me...
