Inspiration

I was wanting to create canvasses that seemed as large as the ocean itself. The vividness of the colours is enticing and energetic. This image is all the good things about summer, surf, sand and the magical sunlight. After this painting I undertook a number of beach paintings with people in the surf and on the land – these I gave as gifts to my closest friends – over a number of years. There are four of them that I gave as wedding presents between 1996 – 2008.
