Coming Up this year 2011

I always get a little melancholy to say good-bye to such a fabulous year. 2010 was a year that made so many dreams come true. In our wildest dreams I did not imagine that we would achieve the growth that RedBalloon had this year – and more importantly the number of people we have served. If we think about the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Grand Final day – that is the number of people I need to THANK for choosing…

Coming Up Week of 29 Nov 2010

What a fabulous week last week. We are clearly in the festive season… I was asked on Kochies Business Builders to speak on employee engagement – clearly a passion and so little time… we will have to work out a way to share more with that audience… iStrategy 2010 was very productive and insightful. So enjoyed Sailing on the Harbor with some of the RedBalloon for Corporate clients and friends. Kristina Karlsson from Kikki-K kept the whole team enthralled with…

Research says: Money can buy Happiness

Interesting that according to researcher Thomas Gilovich -  it is not that wealth that causes happiness, but what and how money is used that contributes to our sense of well being. The more aligned a purchase is to ‘shared experience’ the greater the sense of happiness. I found this research fascinating. RedBalloon is changing gifting in Australia and NZ forever because we believe that the most important gift is the gift of shared experience…which deepens relationships. Interesting that the research…

Myself, Janine Allis - Boost Juice & Carly Crutchfield at National IQ

Sometimes my weeks astound me with the sheer variety of what I get up to. I did a presentation on employee engagement entitled ‘you can’t do it on your own’ to the Independent Funeral Directors – I think we found each other equally fascinating. I was in Melbourne – and surprised my daughter with a fabulous gift. Kissed goodbye by his lordship himself – there was lots of cooing, not just from my daughter but her school friends as well….

Peace, tranquility and discovery.

One of the fabulous parts of my role is visiting and experiencing the amazing range of experiences that RedBalloon has to offer. This weekend my colleague Georgia and I visited a brand new supplier… and what a delight. I have never before been to a Health Retreat… in fact I was a little unsure of what to expect. I knew that to maximize the results of the retreat part of it would be to unplug for the weekend. No phones,…

What a week of experiences this has been. Monday I watched racehorses at David Hayes stables at Flemington – work out on a treadmill. Tuesday I had breakfast with past Melbourne Cup champions, Rogan Josh and Brew in the mounting yard at Flemington and I held the 18 carrot gold Melbourne cup (with white gloves on). Later in the afternoon I met and held a bunch of reptiles, quite the experience. Wednesday I’d lost my voice – so for our…

Pet’s in Hospital… joy

I just received this delightful email from a RedBalloon experience supplier. It is such a beautiful story of a perfect gift…. and something I had never considered. A pet is often very much a member of the family – and when the family member (especially children and the elderly) is in hospital for a very long time they can desperately miss the family pet. As Jill explained: “Hi Naomi, I supplied a cushion to a RedBalloon customer who had bought…

Coming up this week 25 Oct 2010

Last week ended up being completely frantic… I attended four learning events in addition to presenting at three other events. I did two client visits and attended one charity fund raiser. I had a very embarrassing moment at the RedKite Trivia Quiz night in Sydney  – I was on a team with Georgie Gardner, Tony Squires, Adam Spencer, Brad Seymour, and Jenni Seton together with our partners. And clearly when you have Adam Spencer on your team the average IQ…

Fit to be an entrepreneur.

Some people shudder just to read the word fitness; others instantly feel a dull sense of guilt in the pit of their stomach, others of course live for it. Wellness, fitness, nutrition – are not things that you would expect to hear about from me. Looking after myself though is one of my responsibilities. I have so many people that count on me… not just my children, husband, family and friends, but the RedBallooners, our suppliers, customers, and the broader…

Grow!

Each trimester at RedBalloon we galvanize the plan by announcing a theme. The theme is always based on what is the most critical thing for the business to achieve right now! Last trimester the whole company got behind a ‘Red Dawn’ theme. Everyone chipped in as we launched the new version of the website. Some wrote copy, others proofread, some tested or took photographs. It was the biggest project we have ever undertaken since our launch. It went smoothly –…
