I am a member of the Council of Governors of the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation. Until recently, research into cerebral palsy prevention, cure and intervention had not been a high priority in Australia, or overseas. The Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation is seeking to raise a sustainable research pool of $50 million dollars. It is our job as Governors to lead this effort. Steptember <link> is an event that everyone can participate in to help raise funds, awareness and to get fit at the same time.

Another community cause that I support is the child protection charity, Barnados, where I am an ambassador for their Mother of the Year award. I recently told Mamamia I was honoured to be a Barnardos ambassador. I feel really fortunate that Barnardos asked me to do this. They do really important work; they’re just fantastic. I wanted to get involved in this campaign because it celebrates all mothers and the important everyday challenge we have in raising and nurturing our children and keeping them safe.
